Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about iCompare
General Questions
What does the app do?
The app is set out to increase your contact lens capture rate. 40% of patients will walk with their prescription under the false pretense that it will be cheaper to buy online. iCompare allows you to efficiently show patients that your prices are competitive, if not cheaper, by giving them an instant comparison to online retailers.
Who is this for?
This app for is any optometry practice that does not have a 100% contact lens capture rate. There is always room for improvement!
Can patients order contact lenses through iCompare?
No. The patient cannot directly order through the iCompare, but we are developing a feature that allows practices to send a text message to the patient with their personalized price comparison. On this text, there will be the option for the patient to click "Order Now". This will then alert the clinic via email and let them know the patient is ready to order.
Subscription & Billing
How does the subscription work?
Your clinic can either pay month to month and cancel at any time or pay a discounted upfront fee for the entire year. Plan costs will vary based on number of doctors within the practice.
Is there a free trial?
We periodically offer trials or promos. If a trial is available, you'll see it during signup—no surprises.
How do I cancel?
Reach out to our support team and we will cancel your subscription for you at any time.
Do you offer refunds?
We don't offer prorated refunds, but if something went wrong (e.g., you were charged in error), contact support and we'll help.
Comparisons & Coverage
Which retailers are included?
We track major online retailers and have active price comparisons for the following companies: Costco, Target, Walmart, Warby Parker, 1-800-contacts, ContactsDirect and Walgreens. If there is a retailer that is more prevalent in your area – just reach out to support staff and we will gladly add them to our list.
Do you include rebates, coupons, or insurance?
Yes! There are three fields on the comparison page that can be populated by your staff – Number of Boxes, Manufacturer Rebates and Insurance Reimbursement. This is important as a lot of online retailers void current promotions if vision insurance is being used.
How often are prices updated?
Online retailer prices are currently being refreshed biweekly. If we foresee the need to increase the frequency based on price fluctuations, we will adjust accordingly.
What brands and modalities do you support?
We offer comparisons for the 55 most commonly prescribed soft contact lenses on the market. We understand that each doctor may practice a little differently and use different products – therefore, if you don't see your favorite lens on the list, just reach out to support staff and we will gladly add it for you!
Do you compare international retailers?
Not at this time. We're focused on U.S. pricing and regulations.
Local Optometry Practices
How do I get my clinic's prices on the app?
There are two ways to do this. Once you sign up you will see a link to an excel spreadsheet that you can download and then input your prices next to the corresponding product. Then you can upload this directly to your account via the products page under the dashboard tab. This spreadsheet will appear in two places (on the webpage immediately after signing up and again in a welcome email that you will receive) and there will also be an accompanying video explaining this process. If this doesn't work for you, then just let us know and our staff can input the prices for you!
Is this app HIPAA compliant?
Yes. We DO NOT collect any of your patients personal data.
